Trussell’s Lobby Day

On 18th June Trussell held their Lobby day – a chance for foodbanks from across the country to come together at Parliament to tell MPs about the change our communities need to see.

Trussell’s ‘Guarantee Our Essentials’ campaign works to enact the changes needed to make sure people ion benefits don’t need to turn to the foodbank to make ends meet.

Right now, 9.3 million people are facing hunger and hardship across the UK. The basic rate of Universal Credit does not cover the cost of the essentials people need to survive and is a big driver of severe hardship. Alongside this, the planned cuts to disabled people’s social security risk plunging even more people into hunger and hardship. It is a privilege to come together with other foodbanks to tell those in power about the hardship we see everyday and the ways they can change things for the better.
